While you may want a customer focused, observe and report style agent, that may not align with your mission objectives, or needs. Unarmed security is a great first step towards administrative controls to manage access control, and streamline life safety systems with the public. Conversely, if you want your security team to have the best chance at keeping you safe you would want to have armed security for the advanced training, and expanded response potential.
Every account dictates slightly different needs, and may have unarmed security with all the normal tools, up to less-lethal options, or nothing other than a small flashlight. At Modern Protective we greatly discourage the minimization of our agents to a pulse with a flashlight as that style of security has been humorously referred to as, as we have higher standards than that for them.

Our unarmed agents receive the same curriculum as our armed agents as we like to perform to a higher level. Many of the teachings that an armed agent would receive can still help to save the life of an unarmed agent in their day to day operations, and we value that advantage. While our unarmed agents may not be armed with lethal force, we believe in keeping them safe, so that they can further project safety and security onto your property.

Training minimum
Week long curriculum in armed security
The training program equips participants with vital skills for the security industry, covering crime scene preservation, de-escalation techniques, verbal judo, and report writing. As an introductory course, it emphasizes the importance of learning and hands-on experience for success in the field. The program is designed to establish a strong foundation for a fruitful career in security through a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical exercises, and-world case studies.
Multi-day On the job training
On-the-job training remains a crucial component of our development strategy, even for experienced agents. This approach ensures that team members stay updated on the latest industry practices and company protocols, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, it allows us to tailor training to individual needs enhancing overall performance and client satisfaction.
Report writing
We additional coach our agents to write better reports as this is the backbone to the service you are receiving. You want to have all the facts available for any form of legal report, and writing this properly in the field is a tricky skill to master.
Armed Security
Modern Protective believes strongly in having strong human capital, and strong actionable intelligence. This builds the foundation for our armed agents to know the antics that individuals utilize to normally bend the wishes of the customer. Our armed agents are able to respond to situations with the level of street cop knowledge that forms over years of patrolling the area.
Minimum training
Same training as unarmed security
We start with a background in security to get all agents to the same minimum level of training as each other to foster confidence in each others skills.
Strict firearms proficiency standards
We believe that if agents are unable to exceed the law enforcement training minimum for firearms proficiency they should not be professionally carrying firearms.
Strong relationship building
We encourage our agents to develop strong interpersonal relationships with members of our clients' teams so that they can easily provide, and receive information. We want our agents to be able to ask the janitor if they saw someone lurking around, and be able to get all the details.
